Hello Haus of Blanco & New Eden supporters! I hope this message finds you in great spirits. We wanted to send a message out to keep everyone posted on HOB happenings for the rest of the year. As most of you know we have sponsored a domestic violence shelter since October 2018 & a DV Safe House for more severe situations since May 2020. This is privately owned & funded in majority by HOB.
Some of these domestic violence cases are so extreme that we provide homeschool for the school aged children because they are unable to go to public school. We also provide home health aides, counseling, work from home workspaces, & finance managers to the tenants. We want to give these women & their children every opportunity we can to start a new chapter in their lives.
Due to their circumstances, most of the children are not permitted to participate in public activities such as fairs/festivals, trick or treating, the local Christmas parade, etc. So this year we have decided to host them their very own Halloween/Fall Festival in October as well as a Polar Express themed slumber party for Christmas. That way the children are still in a safe & protected environment but they don’t have to miss out on the holiday fun.
We are asking our supporters who are able to donate & help us make these events happen. The goal is to provide Halloween costumes, food, candy, games, crafts, & booths for the Fall Festival, as well as food, sleepover kits (pajamas, slippers, sleeping bag, toiletries), a popcorn, sweets, & hot cocoa buffet, & movie night setup for the Christmas slumber party. This is something that is near & dear to our heart here at HOB & any donations are greatly appreciated. We can also provide charity receipts for tax purposes upon request.
